Sailmaking skills for Residential Wave Awning
Ocean Covers recently collaborated with Sydney architect Belinda Wight of Studio McQualter to create a unique nautical-themed awning inspired by ocean waves. Located in Bronte, Sydney, the project reflects both aesthetic beauty and resilience against coastal weather.
Design and Materials
The awning combines traditional sailmaking techniques with modern materials:
- Sunbrella Marine Acrylic Fabric
- Spectra Lines and 316 Stainless Steel Fittings
- Sungard UV-treated thread
Installation and Functionality
The awning is bolted securely with 316 marine-grade bolts. Precision in installation ensures both form and function, with each element carefully fitted for durability and aesthetics.
Result
